WFH mourns passing of Murtadha Hassan, MD

La FMH endeuillée par le décès du Dr Murtadha Hassan (MD)

C’est avec une profonde tristesse que la Fédération mondiale de l’hémophilie (FMH) a appris le récent décès du Dr Murtadha Hassan (MD), leader et défenseur des droits de premier plan en Iraq, et fondateur de l’Iraqi Hemophilia Society (IHS), l’organisation nationale membre (ONM du pays). Le professeur Hassan est décédé le 12 juin 2026 à l’âge de 78 ans.

Le Dr Murtadha Hassan (MD) a débuté sa carrière d’hématologue en 1998, en tant que spécialiste de l’hématologie en laboratoire au Centre pour l’hémophilie de l’hôpital universitaire de la Cité médicale de Bagdad. En 2004, il a fondé l’Iraqi Hemophilia Society (IHS) et a été à l’origine des efforts pour la faire accréditer auprès de la FMH cette même année. Par l’intermédiaire de l’IHS, il a contribué à assurer que des traitements soient fournis pour la première fois en Iraq dans les années 1990, malgré les difficiles conditions de l’après-guerre.

Tout au long de sa vie, le Dr Murtadha Hassan (MD) a mis son temps et sa passion au service de la communauté de l’hémophilie en Iraq et a travaillé en étroite collaboration avec les hôpitaux universitaires et la Cité médicale de Bagdad, mais aussi avec plus de 20 centres de traitement de l’hémophilie (FMH) dans tout le pays. Il a également établi un solide partenariat avec le ministère de la Santé. Enfin, le Dr Hassan était aussi membre de l’Hemophilia Eastern Mediterranean Network (HEMNET), le Réseau de la Méditerranée orientale pour l’hémophilie.

The WFH has been made aware of various correspondences—circulated via e-mail and telephone—coming from individuals impersonating WFH staff or falsely stating that they are associated with the WFH.
