Ekawat Suwantaroj réélu membre profane du conseil d’administration de la FMH

La Fédération mondiale de l’hémophilie (FMH) a le plaisir d’annoncer qu’Ekawat Suwantaroj a été réélu membre profane du conseil d’administration de la FMH, à l’occasion de l’assemblée générale qui s’est tenue au Congrès mondial 2024 de la FMH à Madrid (Espagne). Son mandat durera quatre ans.

Ekawat Suwantaroj est né en Thaïlande, et on lui a diagnostiqué une hémophilie A sévère à l’âge de quatre mois. La difficulté à vivre avec un trouble de la coagulation dans un pays en développement l’a beaucoup marqué et lui a insufflé la détermination d’aider d’autres familles de la communauté thaïlandaise des troubles héréditaires de la coagulation. Il a lancé en 2004 le Club thaïlandais des patient·es hémophiles, dont il était président. M. Suwantaroj a par la suite joué un rôle essentiel dans le Programme de traitement précoce de l’hémophilie dans le pays, qui a défendu l’usage de facteur pour l’ensemble des patient·es. Ce programme a aussi permis d’éduquer les patients, de leur apprendre l’auto-injection et comment faire des exercices articulaires.

Suwantaroj est actuellement vice-président du Club thaïlandais des patient·es hémophiles et membre du comité de la Fondation nationale thaïlandaise pour l’hémophilie. Il est engagé dans d’autres groupes de soutien et met actuellement en place la Fondation thaïlandaise pour les maladies rares afin de mieux sensibiliser la population aux maladies rares. Par ailleurs, il est engagé au niveau international auprès de l’ASEAN Hemophilia Network (AHN) et a déjà participé à plusieurs ateliers internationaux avec la FMH ces dix dernières années.
