Ekawat Suwantaroj reelecto como miembro lego del consejo directivo de la FMH

La Federación Mundial de Hemofilia (FMH) tiene el enorme gusto de anunciar que Ekawat Suwantaroj fue reelecto como miembro lego del consejo directivo de la FMH en la reunión anual de la Asamblea General que tuvo lugar durante el Congreso Mundial 2024 de la FMH, en Madrid, España, para un periodo de cuatro años.

Ekawat Suwantaroj nació en Tailandia y, a los cuatro meses de edad, le diagnosticaron hemofilia A grave. El reto de vivir con un trastorno de la coagulación en un país en vías de desarrollo incidió de manera importante en su vida y pronto generó en él la determinación para ayudar a otras familias de la comunidad tailandesa de trastornos de la coagulación hereditarios. En 2004, lanzó el Club Tailandés de Pacientes con Hemofilia, del que fue presidente. Suwantaroj desempeñó un papel importante en el Programa de Tratamiento Precoz de la Hemofilia en Tailandia, el cual impulsó el uso de factor para todos los pacientes. El programa también ayudó a instruir a los pacientes, enseñándoles cómo autoinfundirse y realizar ejercicios para las articulaciones.

Suwantaroj es actualmente vicepresidente del Club Tailandés de Pacientes con Hemofilia y miembro del comité de la Fundación Nacional de Hemofilia de Tailandia. Participa en otros grupos de apoyo a escala local y está en proceso de establecer la Fundación Tailandesa para Enfermedades Poco Comunes con el propósito de incrementar la conciencia sobre dichos trastornos en su país. También tiene actividades a nivel internacional a través de la Red de Hemofilia ASEAN y durante la última década ha participado en varios talleres internacionales organizados por la FMH.
