La FMH endeuillée par le décès de Victor Stanley Blanchette (MD)

C’est avec une profonde tristesse que la Fédération mondiale de l’hémophilie (FMH) a appris le décès récent de Victor Stanley Blanchette (MD), directeur médical du Programme de thrombose et hémostase pédiatriques du département d’hématologie-oncologie de l’hôpital pour enfants malades (SickKids) de Toronto (Canada), et professeur de pédiatrie à l’université de Toronto.

Victor Stanley Blanchette (MD) était très dévoué à son domaine professionnel et a laissé une trace dans la communauté mondiale des troubles héréditaires de la coagulation, en particulier dans les Caraïbes. Ses efforts ont permis d’éduquer et de rendre autonomes des professionnel·les de santé aux Bahamas, à la Barbade, en Jamaïque, à Sainte-Lucie, à Saint-Vincent-et-les-Grenadines, ainsi qu’à Trinité-et-Tobago. Il a occupé de nombreux postes au cours de son exercice à l’établissement SickKids de Toronto, a guidé la communauté des troubles de la coagulation à Toronto à travers la crise du VIH entre 1983 et 1998, a aidé à fonder l’Association of Hemophilia Clinic Directors of Canada (AHCDC, Association des directeurs et directrices de cliniques de l’hémophilie du Canada), et a également créé avec d’autres spécialistes le Council of Canadian Paediatric Haematology/Oncology Directors (Conseil des directeurs et directrices des services d’hématologie-oncologie pédiatriques du Canada).

Blanchette a été un bénévole précieux à la FMH pendant de très nombreuses années ; il a participé à un jumelage très réussi avec la Barbade et a lancé le jumelage médical avec l’Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex de Trinité-et-Tobago, occupant une fonction de mentor et assistant nos organisations nationales membres (ONM) dans le monde entier. Plus récemment, il a aidé les pays membres de la Sick Kids Caribbean Initiative à s’impliquer dans le Registre mondial des troubles de la coagulation (RMTC).

Au nom de toute la communauté mondiale des troubles de la coagulation, la FMH tient à adresser ses plus sincères condoléances à toute la famille de Victor Stanley Blanchette, ainsi qu’à ses ami·es et collègues.

The WFH has been made aware of various correspondences—circulated via e-mail and telephone—coming from individuals impersonating WFH staff or falsely stating that they are associated with the WFH. These correspondences, which may seek to obtain money using the name of someone affiliated with the WFH, are fraudulent and come from outside of our organization.

If you receive a suspicious solicitation, exercise extreme caution. In the case of an email, look at the email address to see if it looks suspicious (for example, all WFH emails come from @wfh.org).
