Ekawat Suwantaroj coopté au Conseil d’administration de la FMH

La Fédération mondiale de l’hémophilie (FMH) a le plaisir d’annoncer qu’Ekawat Suwantaroj a été coopté au sein de son conseil d’administration, en tant que membre profane, pour un mandat courant du 26 mai 2022 jusqu’à l’assemblée générale annuelle 2024.

Ekawat Suwantaroj est né en Thaïlande ; à l’âge de quatre ans, on lui a diagnostiqué une hémophilie A sévère. La difficulté à vivre avec un trouble de la coagulation dans un pays en développement l’a beaucoup marqué et lui a insufflé la détermination d’aider d’autres familles thaïlandaises de la communauté des troubles héréditaires de la coagulation. En 2004, il a lancé le Club des patients atteints d’hémophilie, dont il est le président. M. Suwantaroj a par la suite joué un rôle de premier plan dans le Programme de traitement précoce de l’hémophilie en Thaïlande, qui a milité en faveur de l’usage de facteur pour tous·tes les patient·es. Ce programme a aussi aidé à éduquer les patient·es, en leur apprenant à faire leurs injections et des exercices articulaires.

Suwantaroj est aujourd’hui vice-président du Club des patients atteints d’hémophilie et membre du comité de la Fondation nationale thaïlandaise de l’hémophilie. Il est aussi engagé dans d’autres groupes de soutien locaux et met actuellement en place la Fondation thaïlandaise pour les maladies rares, pour accroître la sensibilisation à ces maladies dans le pays. Il est également actif au niveau international au sein de l’ASEAN Hemophilia Network (AHN) et a participé à plusieurs ateliers internationaux auprès de la FMH ces dix dernières années.
