La FMH encabeza en Montreal el primer taller sobre nuevas tecnologías y terapia génica

El 18º Taller sobre nuevas tecnologías y terapia génica, ecabezado por primera vez por la FMH, se celebró en Montreal, Canadá, del 7 al 8 de noviembre de 2024. En esta pequeña reunión científica de alto nivel participaron aproximadamente 70 expertos de diversos campos, entre ellos inmunólogos, médicos, investigadores y pacientes, con el propósito de explorar nuevas fronteras en el tratamiento de la hemofilia. El taller brindó a los expertos en el campo una oportunidad para compartir sus últimos hallazgos, colaborar en enfoques innovadores y conversar sobre los desafíos que enfrentan las nuevas tecnologías

El Taller sobre nuevas tecnologías y terapia génica se lleva a cabo cada pocos años desde 1996 y el anterior fue organizado por la Fundación Nacional de Trastornos Hemorrágicos (National Bleeding Disorders Foundation o NBDF). Con base en este historial, la FMH organizó la 18ª edición, continuando una larga tradición de promoción de la atención para personas con hemofilia mediante investigaciones de vanguardia.

El primer día del Taller se centró en temas inmunológicos y de toxicidad relacionados con la transferencia de genes; anticuerpos monoclonales y biespecíficos para la hemofilia y otros trastornos de la coagulación; y terapia génica/edición genética no viral.

Las presentaciones del segundo día abordaron la necesidad de mejores transgenes de FVIII o alternativas; otros sistemas de vectores y ensayos clínicos innovadores; y las actualizaciones más recientes sobre vectores virales adenoasociados (VAA). Un panel de pacientes conversó sobre el estado de la ciencia.

El 18º Taller sobre nuevas tecnologías y terapia génica ofreció a los participantes una singular oportunidad de reunirse, enfatizando el compromiso de la comunidad con el avance de nuevas tecnologías y asegurando que los tratamientos innovadores puedan beneficiar a todos los pacientes.
