La FDA propone la valoración del riesgo individual de los donantes de sangre, en su revisión de las políticas de elegibilidad y aplazamiento de donantes en EE. UU.

La Administración de Alimentos y Medicamentos de Estados Unidos (FDA por su sigla en inglés) anunció que está proponiendo modificar el aplazamiento de donantes con bases temporales, y en su lugar evaluar la elegibilidad de los donantes de sangre utilizando preguntas incluyentes del género, basadas en el riesgo individual, con el propósito de reducir el riesgo de transmisión del VIH a través de transfusiones.

Esta propuesta se alinea con políticas establecidas en países tales como el Reino Unido y Canadá. El borrador de recomendaciones de la FDA se fundamenta en la cuidadosa revisión por parte de la agencia de la información disponible, inclusive datos de otros países con una epidemiología del VIH similar a la de EE. UU., los cuales han instituido este enfoque, así como en la vigilancia permanente del abasto de sangre en territorio estadounidense.

The WFH has been made aware of various correspondences—circulated via e-mail and telephone—coming from individuals impersonating WFH staff or falsely stating that they are associated with the WFH. These correspondences, which may seek to obtain money using the name of someone affiliated with the WFH, are fraudulent and come from outside of our organization.

If you receive a suspicious solicitation, exercise extreme caution. In the case of an email, look at the email address to see if it looks suspicious (for example, all WFH emails come from @wfh.org).
