El patrono de la FMH, mentor de un joven piloto en Sudáfrica

Jan-Willem André de la Porte, patrono de la FMH, nació con hemofilia y, como muchas otras personas afectadas por esta enfermedad, sufrió daño articular permanente. En el caso de André de la Porte, no podía doblar su pierna derecha, lo cual limitaba muchas de las actividades que podía realizar.

Jan-Willem André de la Porte, patrono de la FMH, nació con hemofilia y, como muchas otras personas afectadas por esta enfermedad, sufrió daño articular permanente. En el caso de André de la Porte, no podía doblar su pierna derecha, lo cual limitaba muchas de las actividades que podía realizar. Uno de los deportes en los que podía participar eran las carreras de autos, una pasión que empezó cuando él tenía 15 años. Gracias al tratamiento profiláctico antes de las carreras pudo competir habitualmente en Sudáfrica. Ahora, a los 66 años, André de la Porte todavía es piloto y también mentor de jóvenes pilotos. Uno de ellos –Arnold Neveling– recientemente ganó una carrera de resistencia de 9 horas de duración en Killarney, Cape Town. Este mes, Neveling competirá en un Lamborghini Huracán que orgullosamente exhibirá el logotipo de la FMH a la vista del mundo entero.
