For Nibia, one of the most valuable learnings she acquired from the WFH PACT Advocacy Academy course was to develop well-structured advocacy plans to guide discussions with decision-makers. She also appreciated the elevator pitch training, which strengthened her ability to communicate key messages in a concise and confident manner.
Working with a teammate, she developed an advocacy project aimed at improving the quality of life and care for adults with bleeding disorders, particularly older adults. One of her main challenges during the project was obtaining support from government representatives and hemophilia treatment centres; and also securing the financial resources required to sustain the initiative. The project groundwork is currently in progress and plans for its launch are advancing.
Nibia’s PACT Advocacy Academy experience has strengthened her confidence in preparing and presenting projects and has helped her define objectives more clearly. It also marked an important milestone: her first formal meeting with parliamentary authorities in Uruguay—an engagement she regarded as constructive and encouraging.
Looking ahead, she hopes to see the project implemented in the medium term, and to inspire similar initiatives that will benefit the community. She encourages future participants to take advantage of the opportunity to engage in the Academy, noting that it is a meaningful and valuable learning experience. For her, the guiding principle moving forward is to continue learning and progressing. As she puts it, to “Learn and move forward.”
