Volunteer award winners announced
At today’s Inaugural Plenary, we honoured volunteers whose efforts have been instrumental in advancing the mission of the WFH. Sukesh Nair, MD, former chair of the WFH Lab Sciences Committee, was awarded the WFH International Healthcare Volunteer Award for his commitment to patient care, education, global healthcare enhancement and external quality control. The Hemophilia Society of Turkey received the WFH President’s Award for their exemplary support of patients and healthcare providers, spanning beyond Turkey to countries like Azerbaijan, Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria. Congratulations to our deserving winners!
Recap: Increasing access to treatment
Today’s session, “Increasing access to treatment” covered the current state of access to treatment across the globe. Alain Baumann, CEO of the WFH, spoke about the impact the WFH is having on increasing equitable access to care for people with bleeding disorders (PWBDs). Assad Haffar, MD, WFH Medical & Humanitarian Aid Director, then went on to talk about the specific impact of the WFH Humanitarian Aid Program. Carlos Safadi, (Argentina), Bishesh Sharma Poudyal, MD (Nepal), and Mohammad Robed Amin, MD (Bangladesh) shared their country experiences with attendees. A panel then discussed successful strategies that can be used to accelerate access to treatment before moving on to a Q&A period.

MSK Annual General Meeting taking place tomorrow
The annual musculoskeletal (MSK) general meeting will take place tomorrow morning, and will feature a number of topics, including the 2024 annual report, current challenges being faced by the community, the 2024 officer elections, and a look at the future of MSK treatment.
