César Garrido reelecto como presidente del consejo directivo de la FMH

La Federación Mundial de Hemofilia (FMH) tiene el enorme gusto de anunciar que César Garrido fue reelecto como presidente del consejo directivo de la FMH en la reunión anual de la Asamblea General que tuvo lugar durante el Congreso Mundial 2024 de la FMH, en Madrid, España, para un periodo de cuatro años.

César Garrido nació en Caracas, Venezuela. Tiene dos hijos, uno de ellos con hemofilia A, que fue lo que lo impulsó a convertirse en un dedicado miembro de la comunidad de trastornos de la coagulación, compromiso que empezó hace más de dos décadas.

En 1996, Garrido se convirtió en miembro de la Asociación Venezolana para la Hemofilia (AVH), en la que ha ocupado diversos cargos, entre ellos miembro del consejo directivo, tesorero y gerente de proyecto. En la AVH ha sido miembro instrumental de varias iniciativas, entre las que se cuenta la creación de nuevos laboratorios de diagnóstico para personas con hemofilia (PCH) en Venezuela y América Latina. También participó en programas nacionales que mejoraron el acceso al factor de coagulación, elaboró campañas de acercamiento e identificación, incrementó el acceso a la instrucción, y estableció talleres médicos regionales para PCH.

A nivel internacional, Garrido fue miembro del consejo asesor de la Alianza Internacional de Organizaciones de Pacientes (IAPO) y desde el 2010 ha sido miembro de Experiencias, Resultados y Oportunidades en la Hemofilia (HERO por su sigla en inglés). Fue, asimismo, gerente de desarrollo de una alianza estratégica entre 27 países del Continente Americano –llamada la Coalición de las Américas (CoA)– establecida a fin de incidir en políticas públicas.
