Participants of this webinar will have the opportunity to listen to, and to ask questions of key experts on the field, and to learn about the experiences of women with VWD. The event will:
- Highlight and discuss the prevalence, challenges in recognition and evaluation of reproductive tract bleeding in post-pubertal females with VWD
- Discuss the complications and management of reproductive tract bleeding in post-pubertal females with VWD
- Raise awareness about the hemostatic changes that occur during pregnancy and the impact of these changes on the care of patients with VWD
- Discuss the management of pregnancy, labour, and delivery as well as the postpartum period in patients with VWD
These topics will be covered by Dawn Rotellini, WFH Board Member and chair of the WFH Women and Girls with Bleeding Disorders Committee; Lakshmi Srivaths, MD, Professor of Pediatrics and Chair of the Women and Girls with Blood Disorders Learning Action Network; Paula James, MD, Professor of Pathology & Molecular Medicine and Pediatrics and member of the WFH VWD Committee; Lauren Nyhan and and Cathy Verbraeken, two women from New Zealand with a bleeding disorder; and TBC. They will discuss the importance of early diagnosis for WGBDs as a key factor in avoiding reproductive health complications later in life.
