Professor Parttaporn Isarangkura was a pioneer of medical care. Her commitment to advancing public health in Thailand was renowned: she was the first to use platelet concentrates to treat dengue fever; she introduced cryoprecipitate treatment for hemophilia; and she introduced HIV antigen testing. As head of Thailand’s national hemophilia service, she championed strategic improvements that laid the foundation for hemophilia care in the country, as well as setting a regional standard.
In the 1980s, Professor Isarangkura directed the WFH ASEAN regional office—the only one to remain active after the mid-1990s thanks to her effective leadership. Respected for her unique blend of diplomacy and determination, she mentored colleagues across Southeast Asia. In 2004, she was instrumental in the success of the WFH 2004 World Congress in Bangkok, Thailand.
On behalf of the global bleeding disorders community, the WFH would like to express its deepest sympathies to Professor Parttaporn Isarangkura’s family, friends, and colleagues. Her pioneering work and dedication to the bleeding disorders community will leave a lasting legacy in Thailand.
