During the conference, WFH CEO Alain Baumann highlighted the global impact of the WFH and its long-standing partnership with the NMO, highlighting the success of initiatives like the WFH Path to Access to Care and Treatment (PACT) Program in China. That program is designed to improve outreach and diagnosis and increase access to sustainable care for people with inherited bleeding disorders. WFH Regional Manager Harshal Kale attended the conference and met with key HTCCNC stakeholders to discuss the ongoing implementation of the WFH PACT program in China.
WFH Board Member Cedric Hermans, MD, gave a talk on global challenges in hemophilia care, addressing critical gaps and sharing strategies to overcome them. Hermans also discussed opportunities for publishing in medical and research journals—such as Haemophilia, the official journal of the WFH.
Zhu Chen, MD—the former Chinese Minister of Health—also spoke, saying that the 20-year collaboration with the WFH has significantly advanced hemophilia care across the country.
The conference featured sessions by Man-Chu Poon, MD, and Brian Luke, MD, from Canada, who played pivotal roles in the initial Hemophilia Treatment Centre (HTC) Twinning partnerships that laid the foundation for the founding of the HTCCNC. HTC Twinning partners emerging hemophilia treatment centres with established ones to help improve diagnosis and the clinical management of people with inherited bleeding disorders.
