In preparation of the upcoming WHO 158th Session of the Executive Board, taking place in Geneva, Switzerland from February 2 to 7, 2026, several WHO Member States—led by the government of Armenia, and co-sponsored by the governments of Bosnia & Herzegovina, Egypt, Georgia, Latvia, Morocco, Malta, Nepal, Paraguay, Spain, Sri Lanka and Togo—are leading efforts for the adoption of a WHA resolution.
What is a WHA resolution and why it is important?
A WHA resolution is a formal policy document adopted by WHO Member States, which acts as a high-level international agreement to set global health agendas, request actions from the WHO, and guide national policies on specific health issues. If adopted, a WHA Resolution on hemophilia and other bleeding disorders would serve as a key commitment by the WHO and the national governments to address the health inequities faced by bleeding disorders community worldwide and can be used to advocate and influence health policies at country level.
The WFH—as a non-state actor in official relations with the WHO—has been advocating for, and strongly supports, this milestone initiative.
Invitation to join the WFH Global Call
The WFH invites all our national member organizations and collaborating patient, medical and scientific associations to join the WFH Global Call for Health Equity for Bleeding Disorders in support of this landmark resolution.
