Miguel Escobar, MD, is a hematologist with decades of experience in the inherited bleeding disorders field. He is currently a tenured Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at the Houston-McGovern Medical School, and Medical Director at the Gulf States Hemophilia & Thrombophilia Center.
Escobar has been a volunteer with the World Federation of Hemophilia for 25 years and has been part of the International Hemophilia Training Centre (IHTC) Fellowship Program for 16 years. During his term as chair of the IHTC committee, he helped open eight additional training centres in different countries and facilitated the training of over 200 fellows. The Gulf States Hemophilia & Thrombophilia Center—where he is Medical Director—has been a WFH international training centre since 2001. He has also been involved in treatment guidelines and is a volunteer for the WFH Humanitarian Aid Program.
