The Annual Global Survey (AGS) is a yearly cross-sectional survey of WFH national member organizations (NMOs) that collects country-level demographic and treatment-related data on people with hemophilia (PWH), von Willebrand disease (VWD), rare factor deficiencies, and inherited platelet disorders. It is the most comprehensive global dataset on bleeding disorders, and offers invaluable insights on trends, progress and the challenges in diagnosis and care of people with bleeding disorders (PWBDs).
In 2024, the Annual Global Survey includes several encouraging developments:
- The report represents an unprecedented 89% participation rate, the highest in the 26-year history of the AGS
- Nine countries have responded to the survey for 26 consecutive years: Australia, Germany, Ireland, Republic of Korea, Latvia, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal and Venezuela
- 56 countries have responded to the survey more than 20 times
- The data shows a 6% increase in the global identification of people with hemophilia, a 6% increase in the identification of people with VWD and a 9% increase in the identification of other inherited bleeding disorders
- The data shows a 9% increase in the identification of women and girls with bleeding disorders
These achievements underscore the growing reach of the WFH, and the real-world impact of ongoing collaboration with NMOs—collaboration that is helping our community progress towards better diagnosis and improved access to care.
The WFH expresses its gratitude for the support and participation of all NMOs in our data collection efforts.
