Cedric Hermans, MD, PhD, brings years of leadership experience with the WFH to his new role, including being elected or coopted to the Board of Directors since 2017.
Hermans has made significant contributions to the WFH through his leadership in advancing clinical care, research, and education in bleeding disorders. He has played a key role in shaping WFH medical initiatives, contributing to the development of treatment guidelines, and promoting best practices in patient care worldwide. His involvement in WFH programs and global collaborations has helped strengthen capacity among healthcare professionals and improve access to high-quality, evidence-based care for people with bleeding disorders.
Cedric Hermans heads the Division of Haematology, the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Unit as well as the Hemophilia Centre of the Saint-Luc University Hospital in Brussels, Belgium. He was appointed Full Professor at the Medical School of the Catholic University of Louvain in 2012 and Vice-Dean in 2015.
He has (co)-authored more than 450 original articles in international scientific journals and is a member of several scientific societies and international advisory boards and collaborative research projects. He was president of EAHAD and is currently Editor-in-Chief of Haemophilia, the official journal of the WFH.
Cedric Hermans’ invaluable experience will continue to be a great asset to the WFH as a Vice President, Medical.
