For 50 years, the IHTC Fellowship Program has offered a unique opportunity for healthcare professionals from developing countries to learn about diagnosis and management of hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders. Fellowships are open to all hemophilia treatment centre (HTC) multidisciplinary team members, including clinicians, nurses, physical therapists, laboratory professionals, orthopedic surgeons, dentists, psychosocial professionals, and other specialists dedicated to serving the bleeding disorders community. The program provides an in-person training at one of the 34 designated International Hemophilia Training Centres (IHTC) of the WFH, in addition to virtual training modules when applicable.
The IHTC Fellowship Program plays a vital role in achieving the WFH vision of Treatment for All and our strategic priorities. It helps ensure that communities have the necessary trained healthcare professionals to provide treatment and care. Through international collaboration and exchange, the program reinforces the capacities of fellows to confidently provide the best care and treatment and to increase the percentage of people identified and diagnosed with bleeding disorders globally. Fellows also become important advocates for people living with bleeding disorders, supporting the efforts of the WFH national member organizations in their countries.
