De Smet worked tirelessly for the Belgian Hemophilia Association for 20 years and had been the president of the organization since 2010. He was known for his dedication to ensuring that patients in Belgium had the best possible care. He was also very present at the international level and worked with the WFH on many initiatives—the ongoing Belgium-Ivory Coast twinning is a telling example of his dedication and commitment. He will be remembered for his kind and outgoing personality and his passionate dedication to our shared vision of Treatment for All.
On behalf of the global bleeding disorders community, the WFH would like to express its deepest sympathies to all of Herman De Smet’s family members, friends, and colleagues.
