The 6th Indonesian Hemophilia Society National Congress was held virtually on February 26 to 28, 2021, and focused on the theme, “Road to better hemophilia care”. The event was supported in part by the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) GAP Program and was attended by over 1,300 participants.
The Indonesian Hemophilia Society National Congress is held to foster and strengthen collaborative discussion, and support the local bleeding disorders community. February’s event included symposiums, workshops, exhibitions, and sessions—all designed to provide updates on the development of care for bleeding disorders. The event is a national meeting and counts healthcare and multidisciplinary professionals, people with bleeding disorders, researchers, regulators, policy makers and industry representatives among its participants.
The Congress was opened by Novie Chozie, MD, Chairperson of the event; Djajadiman Gatot, MD, Chairman of the Indonesian Hemophilia Society; Cesar Garrido, President of the WFH; and Abdul Kadir, MD, Director General of the Health Service Ministry of Health of Indonesia. Chozie said that the event had allowed the Indonesian Hemophilia Society to open a dialogue with the Director General of Health Service from the Ministry of Health about prophylaxis and national guidelines on hemophilia care and treatment—a development which is sure to have a big impact on the Indonesian bleeding disorders community.
The GAP Program is supported by funding from: Biotest, CSL Behring, Pfizer, Sanofi Genzyme, Sobi and Takeda.
