He holds a Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Master of Science in Business Administration. He started his career in academia and regulatory affairs in Kenya where he was Associate Professor of Pharmaceutics and Head of Department at the University of Nairobi and Chairman of the Pharmacy Board (Committee on Registration of Medicines) for over 10 years. He has served as coordinator for Medicines Access and Rational Use, as well as coordinator for Safety and Vigilance. He is currently the Director for Health Products Policy and Standards in the Division of Access to Medicines and Health Products at WHO Headquarters.
