Recap of today\u2019s \u201cGene therapy registry\u201d session<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Today\u2019s session on the WFH Gene Therapy Registry (GTR) included updates on the registry’s implementation and an overview of its governance structure, presented by the co-chairs of the GTR Scientific Advisory Board, Barbara Konkle, MD, and Flora Peyvandi, MD.\u00a0 This was followed by discussions on the importance of having one unified global database to monitor the long-term safety of all patients undergoing gene therapy. Each stakeholder in this unique partnership contributed to the dialogue, including Vanessa Newman from the industry perspective, Andrea Laslop representing regulatory views, Samantha Gouw discussing the National Registry perspective, Cedric Hermans, MD presenting the HTC perspective, and Brian O\u2019Mahony offering insights from the patient perspective. The session ended with a Q&A period.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Today\u2019s session, \u201cTransitioning through life stages for women and girls with bleeding disorders\u201d featured talks by several experts on how to best care for WGBDs as they mature. The talks covered going through life stages\u2014including gender transitioning. The role of the healthcare practitioner and WGBDs clinics was also discussed.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The WFH is taking steps to ensure that Congress is a sustainable event by hiring vendors with sustainability initiatives, providing a carbon emission offset tool, making water fountains available in the exhibit hall (to reduce the need for bottled water) and reducing the quantity of printed material distributed at the event.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Experts covered an overview of where we are now in terms of medical progress, followed by how to establish patient readiness for gene therapy, and how nurses can care for people undergoing gene therapy treatment. The session also featured a patient panel, where PWH shared their experiences with gene therapy.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
